ITEZHI-TEZHI – Government has delivered 1,601 metric tonnes of Urea fertilizer to Itezhi –Tezhi district in the Southern Province for the 2024/2025 season under the Farmer Input Support Programme.

Itezhi-Tezhi District Agricultural Coordinator Aubrey Chanda says the urea fertilizer received through the contracted company, Bestmed, is a 100 percent delivery to carter for 10,675 targeted farmers.

Mr. Chanda told the National Agricultural Information Services that the Ministry is very much ready to service farmers.

He noted that farmers should be prepared to start depositing the K400 contributions towards a pack under the FISP Programme as the Ministry of Agriculture will soon commence the exercise.

And Itezhi-Tezhi Senior Agricultural Officer John Banda says over 100 metric tonnes of D-Compound has been received in the district supplied by Nitrogen Chemicals of Zambia.

 

Mr. Banda explained that Nitrogen Chemicals of Zambia is still delivering inputs in the Sheds in Itezhi-Tezhi district.

He observed that the Ministry of Agriculture officers in the district are in the field sensitizing farmers on how the FISP programme will run during the 2024/2025 season.

Kafue Plains

Mr. Banda said Itezhi -Tezhi district will use the Direct Input Supply modality under the FISP Programme during the 2024/2025 season.

Meanwhile, Farmer’s Barn Warehouse Manager Lawrence Polo says his company has already stocked 21.4 metric tonnes of Sunflower seed in the district in readiness for the season.
