Lusaka, October – ZAMBIAN President Hakainde Hichilema has said a billion-dollar beef export from was in sight.
President Hichilema said years of planning and action in creating beef zones and supporting ranchers to grow their cattle.
“We decided to give support to ranchers, cattlemen so they are the ones making money instead of middlemen. I believe the first export will be landing in the hands of customers in the coming few weeks,” said President Hichilema.

According to The Observatory of Economic Complexity (OEC), an online data visualization and distribution platform focused on the geography and dynamics of economic activities, Zambia in 2023 exported $1.1M of Bovine Meat, making it the 63rd largest exporter of Bovine Meat (out of 123) in the world. During the same year, Bovine Meat were the 172nd most exported product (out of 946) inZambia. In 2023, the main destinations of Zambia’s Bovine Meat exports were: Democratic Republic of the Congo ($1.1M).
The fastest growing markets for Bovine Meat exports from Zambia between 2022 and 2023 was: Democratic Republic of the Congo ($741k).
