Two New Industrial Parks Coming to Zambia

Lusaka, August,2025 –  THERE are two new industrial parks being set up in Lusaka. The industrial parks will be in the Chilanga and Kafue areas of Lusaka province.

The Chilanga park will be established on a portion of the land belonging to Wonderful Group of Companies in Chilanga District, Lusaka Province.

According to minutes of the 15th Cabinet Meeting held in Lusaka and announced by the Zambian Government, the Wonderful Group Industrial Park is projected to attract companies with a collective investment outlay of US$ 2.45 billion and create several jobs for both skilled and non-skilled workers.

“About 9,650 direct jobs of which, 800 to 1,000 will be chemical engineers. The declaration of the area as Industrial Park will, therefore, contribute to transferring of technology and skills, creating job opportunities, accelerating export-led industrialisation, creating of forward and backwards linkages with other sectors and integration of business enterprises into the regional value chains,” announced Cornelius Mweetwa, Minister of Information.

The Industrial Park will support phosphate mining in Sinda and Petauke Districts of Eastern Province, which will be used as raw material in fertilizer production. Further, the developer is setting up 85 MW thermal power plant, of which 45 MW will be injected into the national grid. Also the Integrated Industrial and Agricultural Phosphate Products Factory shall set-up a 40 MW thermal electricity generating plant, of which 15 MW will be injected into the national grid.

Another park being created will be set up on a 200-hectare piece of land belonging to Golden Baobab in Kafue, bringing the total to 424.0613 hectares of land in Kafue District, Lusaka Province as a Multi-Facility Economic Zone (MFEZ).

The announcement states, “this will promote significant investment by both domestic and foreign investors in the country. The various investments in the area will contribute to 3 infrastructure development and will transform an idle part of Kafue district into a manufacturing hub attracting quality enterprises in manufacturing of assortment of products such as Tipper trucks and electric motor vehicles, with an eye to both local and export markets.”

Tthe declaration of the MFEZ and subsequent development of backbone infrastructure will act as a catalyst for the attraction of up to US$ 300 million worth of investment, which will create more than 2,000 new jobs in the local community at full capacity, and generate tax revenue for the Government.
